CS Duale, CDF Ogolla in morale-boosting visit to KDF troops in Somalia

The visit aimed at recognising KDF's crucial role in fostering peace, security, and stability in the Horn of Africa.

Defense Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale on Sunday visited Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) troops stationed in Kismayu under the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS).

During the visit, the CS emphasised the KDF's core values of professionalism, integrity, and discipline which have seen them deployed to numerous operations in the region, the continent and globally.

CS Duale was accompanied by General Francis Ogolla, Chief of Defense Forces.

He noted the purpose of the visit was to uplift the soldiers' spirits and recognise their crucial role in fostering peace, security, and stability in the Horn of Africa.

A message of support from President William Ruto was conveyed, underscoring the government's appreciation for the troops' dedication.

Engagements included meetings with Jubbaland State Administration officials, Security Minister, and SNA/JSS Commanders to gain insights into the security landscape in Jubbaland.

He held discussions with Sector 6's commander and 2MIB's commanding officer highlighting significant achievements and upcoming plans to further capitalize on successes.

The CS said despite the challenges faced in Somalia, the troops demonstrated professionalism and efficacy in their mission.

The Defense CS and General Ogolla reiterated unwavering support for the mission's success and encouraged continued valour and dedication among KDF, emphasising collaboration with other Troops Contributing Countries (TCCs).

The visit was conducted alongside senior officers from the Defense Headquarters and Warrant Officer Class One (WOI) Elijah Koranga, the Defence Forces Sergeant Major.
